Update: Sarajevo International Airport (‘SIA’) loan in an amount of EUR 25 million from the EBRD

Sarajevo International Airport (‘SIA’) has applied for a loan in an amount of EUR 25 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for a project to finance an extension of the passenger terminal, together with upgrading and expanding the taxiway and apron.

The project has a total estimated cost of up to EUR 31.9 million. The proposed project will require the procurement of works (Taxiway, Apron and Terminal Building Works), equipment (furniture and equipment) and consultancy services for project implementation and supervision.

Tender procedure for detailed design is finished, and the project is on-going. Tendering procedure for project implementation assistance and supervision services is expected to start in November of 2010, and the tendering for the goods and works contracts is expected to start by the end of first quarter of 2011.

Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the Bank and of a grant from the European Commission will be subject to the Bank's Procurement Policies and Rules and will be open to firms from any country. The proceeds of the Bank's loan will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, of for any import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations or under a law of official regulation of the Purchaser's country.
