Foreign investors not interested in Macedonia

Although initial price of Macedonian land intended for the hotel construction amounts to only EUR 1 per sqm, not one foreign company submitted an offer. It seems that large foreign hotel companies do not want to build hotels in Macedonia since they are not attracted by such low prices.

Macedonian government expected that such prices would have an opposite effect on potential foreign investors and hoped that foreign chain hotels of higher categories would be built. Nonetheless, the land was sold despite the lack of foreign interest. It was bought by officials from the Macedonian government.
