Italian luxury brand GUCCI opens on Monday, 20th December, its first mono-brand stand alone store in Romania in the capital city of Bucharest. The new Gucci store benefits from probably the best premium location in Bucharest, on leading highstreet Calea Victoriei, on the groundfloor of the prestigious Athenee Palace Hilton hotel. The Gucci store will be operated in franchising by a local partner which already operates Paul & Shark as well as a chain of watches and jewellery throughout Romania. The store has large windows overlooking Calea Victoriei and a corner entrance, the store being accessible also from the hotel. Gucci's direct competitor Louis Vuitton has been operating for two years its own store in Bucharest, within the JW Marriott, an unfortunate choice of location as it became gradually deserted and dominated by a mixed selection of shops. Unlike the Athenee Palace Hilton which is located in the heart of the downtown area, the JW Marriott Hotel is within 20 minutes from the center.
