On December 8th, 2010 in Tirane there was held the Business Conference between Albania and Slovenia. The forum was an initiative of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy and AIDA (former Albinvest). The respective Prime Ministers of both countries, Mr. Sali Berisha and Mr. Borut Pahor, as well as 107 business representatives from Slovenia honored the conference.
The Deputy Director of AIDA Mr. Ilir Barjaba through his presentation “Investment Opportunities in Albania", illustrated the business climate in Albania, its macroeconomic stability, and the government incentives for the development of foreign investments in Albania. Also Mr. Barjaba highlighted the priority sectors for foreign investors, like energy, tourism, infrastructure, construction and the further development of the industrial zones. In the upcoming years, Albania will be the main focus of Slovenian investors. This was
confirmed by the Prime Minister of Slovenia, Borut Pahor. Evaluating the achievements of Albania in recent years, the head of the Slovenian government, announced that approximately 20 Slovenian companies, will soon begin their operations in Albania. Albania is a country which offers economic facilities for foreign investors.
At the conclusion of the Economic Forum Albania-Slovenia a Cooperation Protocol was signed by the Deputy of the Foreign Affairs of both countries. Also a contract was signed between the two companies, the Albanian "Sigma" and the Slovenian “Triglav”, according to which the Slovenian company Triglav buys 51% of the stocks of the Albanian company “Sigma”.
