Performance of enterprises by activity and size classes by number of persons employed, Slovenia, 2009

More than 99% of enterprises were small and medium-sized. In 2009 small and medium-sized enterprises (i.e. having up to 249 persons employed) highly predominated in the observed activities of structural business statistics. There were 244 large enterprises (i.e. having 250 and more persons employed) among 113,290 enterprises, 3,471 medium-sized enterprises (i.e. having from 20 up to 249 persons employed) and 109,575 small enterprises (i.e. having up to 19 persons employed). The highest share of large enterprises (2%) was registered in the activity of Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply – D.

Small and medium-sized enterprises created the majority of turnover. In 2009, small and medium-sized enterprises in industrial activities (sections B-F) created more than half (57%) of turnover. Among service activities (sections G-N without K and S95) small and medium-sized enterprises created much more than half (74%) of turnover.

More than half of persons employed worked in small and medium-sized enterprises. In 2009 more than half  of persons employed (71%) working in the observed activities of structural business statistics worked in small and medium-sized enterprises. The majority (122,586) was employed in the activity of manufacturing..
