Brainy visitors will soon be staying in new 'culturehotel' in Zagreb

Croatia is getting a "brain resort" with the country’s first "culturehotel" soon to be under construction in capital Zagreb. The concept includes conference rooms for virtual lectures, art exhibits and scientific gatherings equipped with top-notch technology. The hotel’s upper floors will provide accommodation for visiting scholars and artists.

The architect Zdravko Mehmet called the project "hotel of intelligence." Mehmet was on a jury panel that decided to award the execution of the project to architects Marijan Turkulin and Wol D. Prix. The Vienna-based and world renowned company has designed various well-known structures including the BMW center in Munich.

The 27,000 square-meter complex is expected to cost 30 million Euros, the daily Vecernji List writes. The director of the publishing house Skolska Knjiga that owns 5,000 square meters of the property, Ante Zuzul, says that the project is looking for investment partners. He says that there have been several interested parties, including two scientific-commercial institutions from the United Sates and Europe. Zuzul adds that the the "culturehotel" will not be a regular accommodation-provider, but rather a "hotel – teacher" of the region.
