International investors have shown interest even before Bulgaria’s stock exchange launched the sale of shares Thursday morning, the bourse’s executive director said. A few months ago Ivan Takev admitted that the increase of the Bulgarian government’s share in the country’s only stock exchange will lead to the sale of its majority stake to an industry investor.


Romania ended the year 2010 with a budget deficit amounting to 6.58 percent of the gross domestic product, below the target agreed on with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said Prime Minister Emil Boc on Wednesday.


According to the data from the State Statistical Office, a total of 241 building permits were issued in November 2010, which is 22.5% less than the same month last year. According to the issued building permits the expected total value of the constructions is 4 440 852 thousand denars, which is 89.8% more than the same month last year.


Bostjan Vasle, the boss of the Institute of Macroeconomic Analysis and Development (IMAD), the government’s macroeconomic think-tank, has joined the growing ranks of economists urging the government and business to speed up reform in order to ensure sustainable economic growth.

The annual growth rate of total credit granted to the domestic private sector decelerated further to 0.4% in November 2010, from 1.0% in October 2010 and 4.1% in December 2009. This development reflects the decrease of the annual growth rate of credit to all the relevant sectors.


Consumer prices in the OECD area rose by 1.8% in the year to November 2010, down from 1.9% in October. This easing in the rate of inflation mainly reflected slower growth in energy prices, which increased by 5.4% in November, compared with 6.6% in October. Food prices rose by 2.7% in November, up from 2.6% in October. Excluding food and energy, consumer prices rose by 1.2 % in November compared with 1.1% in October.

The festival will open with a photo exhibition featuring work by Italian cameraman and photographer Arturo Zavattini.
