Foreign Minister Samuel Zbogar begins a three-day official visit to Egypt to discuss bilateral cooperation with Egypt's top officials, including his counterpart Ahmed Aboul-Gheit and President Hosni Mubarak. Zbogar is also scheduled to meet head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate Omar Suleiman, Minister of International Cooperation Fayza Aboulnaga and a delegation of the Egyptian Chamber of Commerce.
His talks with business officials will focus on the promotion of business cooperation and individual projects, and will, according to the ministry, provide a forum for an exchange information and views on EU-Egypt relations. Zbogar will also meet Secretary-General of the Arab League Amre Moussa, ambassadors of the Arab League member states and executive director of the Anna Lindh Foundation Andreu Claret.
Talks are expected to focus on the situation in the Middle East, notably the Israeli-Palestinian issue, the Iranian nuclear programme, Iraq and Sudan. Zbogar will also address global challenges, activities of the Union for the Mediterranean, strengthening of cooperation within the Euro-Mediterranean University as well as Slovenian activities in the Western Balkans.
