Road goods transport, Slovenia, 2nd quarter of 2010

In the 2nd quarter of 2010 road goods vehicles registered in Slovenia carried 24.2 million tons of goods, performed 4 billion tonne-kilometres and covered 296 million kilometres. Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2009, road goods vehicles carried 9% more goods, performed 11% more tonne-kilometres and covered 11% more kilometres. In national transport 7% more goods were carried and 3% less tonne-kilometres were performed, while in international transport 18% more goods were carried and 13% more tonne-kilometres were performed.

Transport for hire or reward accounted for 15.4 million tons of goods and 3.9 billion tonne-kilometres, which is 64% of all goods and 92% of all tonne-kilometres. Transport for own account accounted for 8.8 million tons of goods (36%) and 345 million tonne-kilometres (8%). In the 2nd quarter of 2010 legal persons carried 69% of goods and performed almost 61% of tonne-kilometres; natural persons carried 31% of goods and performed 39% of tonne-kilometres. In comparison with the 2nd quarter of 2010, natural persons carried 12% less goods and performed 13% more tonne-kilometres.

In the same comparison, legal persons carried 23% more goods and performed 9% more tonne-kilometres. In the 2nd quarter of 2010, 24% of all goods were carried in international transport and 76% in national transport. The relations expressed in tonne-kilometres are completely different because of longer distances in international transport. Thus almost 14% of tonne-kilometres were performed in national transport, while 28% were performed in transport of goods from Slovenia, 23% in transport of goods into Slovenia and 35% in transport of goods between foreign places.
