Minister of Infrastructure Milutin Mrkonjic said that joint railway company of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia Kargo 10 released its first train into service yesterday. This train departed from Paracin, Serbia, at 8.30 to Sezana in Slovenia.
Mrkonjic highlighted upon the train’s passing through the railway station in Batajnica that due to this joint company, the inflow of foreign currencies will be increased by €50 million per year for each country. He voiced the hope that 2,000 freight trains will be passing through Corridor 10 as of now, instead of 1,000 which has been the case up until now.
Slovenian Minister of Transport Patrik Vlacic explained that due to this company, the railway connection between Western Europe and Turkey will be used, which has lost its significance over the last 20 years. The first train of company Kargo 10 is composed of 32 freight cars and will carry timber briquettes from Paracin to Sezana intended for the Italian market.
