IMF announces modest expansion of Slovenian economy in 2010

Slovenian economy will expand by 0.8 percent this year, while economic growth rates should reach 2.4 percent in 2011, announced the International Monetary Fund in its latest World Economic Forecast (WEO). IMF announces economic growth rates of 1.7 percent in the euro area this year, which means that Slovenia is well below average.

However Slovenia should report above-average growth rates next year since the economy of the euro area should expand by 1.5 percent. It is worth reminding that the Bank of Slovenia announces a 1.1 and 1.9 percent up in GDP next year, while the Office for Macroeconomic Analysis and Development (UMAR) announces a respective 0.9 and 2.5 percent up in the next two years.
