Dubrovnik County successful tourist season continues in September

Visitors from Great Britain, France and Germany are responsible for Dubrovnik-Neretva County’s excellent tourist season, the latest statistics show. These three groups had the largest number of overnight stays, along with above-average totals from Polish, Slovenian, Russian, Spanish and Norwegian tourists.

Some 135,511 tourists visited the County in September alone, 7 per cent up on the previous year. They registered a total of 647,602 overnight stays showing an increase of nine per cent in comparison to 2009.
Looking at this year’s totals, there were 942,224 visitors and 4.68 million overnight stays, or an increase of six per cent in arrivals and nine per cent in stays.

Hotels alone registered more than 2.5 million overnight stays, which is an increase of 10 per cent compared to same period in 2009. Private accommodation also saw an increase of 10 per cent over last year, while camps registered a five per cent increase. There was a drop in domestic arrivals of about 13 per cent and of 10 per cent in overnight stays. More foreign tourists, on the other hand, came to the County – there were  eight per cent more foreign arrivals and 11 per cent more overnight stays compared to 2009, the portal Business writes.
