Italy was confident that Croatia would sign a European Union accession agreement in the first half of 2011, Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Franco Frattini said after a recent meeting with Croatia's officials. Frattini met with his Croatian counterpart Gordan Jandrokovic and Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor as part of the second Coordination Meeting of Ministries of the two countries. The first such gathering took place in 2009.
Jandrokovic thanked Frattini for his country's support. Referring to the decision of the Croatian Supreme Court that gives foreign nationals the right to reclaim property nationalized by the former Yugoslavia, Frattini urged Croatia to reactivate "frozen" claims.
