The EBRD is supporting MIK Sveti Nikole, one of the largest meat processing companies in FYR Macedonia, in its drive to improve energy efficiency with €1.3 million loan to finance the modernisation of the factory’s energy system.
Established in 1960, MIK Sveti Nikole is one of the leading branded Macedonian meat producers, with a diversified customer base and wide range of portfolio meat products including durable and semi-durable processed meat products, fresh meat and canned meat products..
The EBRD funds will be used to implement a number of industrial energy efficiency measures at the company’s production facilities, such as replacement and rehabilitation of existing equipment, implementation of energy management system and refurbishment of the factory’s waste water treatment plant.
The project will enable MIK Sveti Nikole to cut its fuel and electricity consumption, thus reducing the C02 emissions. This will allow the company to reduce significantly maintenance and operational costs, minimize environmental pollution and improve its overall competitiveness.
